Online masterclass with Ørsted – EU Taxonomy alignment going forward step-by-step (In English)

21. april 2023 fra kl. 9:00 - 10:30

The EU Taxonomy Regulation introduced environmental disclosure requirements for companies and financial market participants. The taxonomy aims to create consistent standards for activities that are described as ‘environmentally sustainable’. A key tenet of this regulation is the recognition that not all environmentally-friendly activities have a tangible impact on environmental goals.

The EU Taxonomy Regulation includes six environmental objectives:

  1. Climate change mitigation
  2. Climate change adaptation
  3. Sustainable use and protection of water and marine resources
  4. Transition to a circular economy
  5. Pollution prevention and control
  6. Protection and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems

To be aligned with the taxonomy, activities must comply with the following steps:

  1. The activity must substantially contribute to one of the six environmental objectives
  2. The activity must Do No Significant Harm to the five other environmental objectives
  3. Minimum safeguards must be in place to ensure respect of international human rights and good governance

The taxonomy also outlines two main types of activities that substantially contribute to these goals:

  1. Economic activities that make a substantial contribution, for example an environmentally sustainable activity
  2. Economic activities that support other sustainable activities, for example investing in a component that supports a sustainable project

Learning outcomes

  • On this masterclass, we will learn more about Ørsted’s taxonomy alignment journey by looking into how the requirements are linked with the day-to-day operations when working with the different directives and standards in relation to the EU Taxonomy
  • Specifically, we will learn how Ørsted has been working to report compliance with the taxonomy alignment requirements, including how Ørsted is working with the organization to ensure existing and future projects are taxonomy compliant
